SAEG Dominican Republic has been chosen by NESTLE for the design, supply and installation of a cooling system based on ammonia that will produce 0.52600 KWS of cold water frigorific at 0.5 °C in the plant located in Valsayn, Trinidad and Tobago. Also, it will be responsible for the construction of a water tank that will function as warehouse or water reservoir during the process.

Alexis Cabrera, Project Manager, informs that the cooling system is a water recirculation type composed by two compressors, one suction collector, 2 evaporative condensers/capacitors, 2 film chillers and a set of pumps coupled to a distribution system. At the same time, a new set of pumps will interconnect the installations to the production plant.

Ammoniac is a more ecological alternative versus synthetic equivalents, because it does not destroy the ozone layer and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect associated with global warming. This makes it coherent with the international agreements related to the matter. A joint venture between SAEG Dominican Republic and NESTLÉ is at a complete stage of development and it is expected to initiate in early September 2015.

Engineer Cabrera also commented that SAEG Dominican Republic has been working in all NESTLE local plants, specifically in San Francisco de Macoris and San Cristobal, where they built a cooling system plant, a fire protection system, the cool water generation system, power supply to the evaporation unit, climate control, and ventilation systems in the warehouses.

“A project of this nature developed overseas and for a company such as NESTLE with high level standards regarding safety implementation and regulations for each one of its facilities, has given us the opportunity to demonstrate that we are a trustworthy company for our clients. At the same time, it shows a solid relationship that started in plants in Dominican Republic and that has have extended to other Caribbean islands” ended Mr. Cabrera comments.
